This demo -- from Pattie Maes' lab at MIT, spearheaded by Pranav Mistry -- was the buzz of TED. It's a wearable device with a projector that paves the way for profound interaction with our environment. Imagine "Minority Report" and then some.

challenging to the status quo of the art world

Light & Wire Gallery is a new collaboration in Los Angeles promoting emerging artists online. The gallery allows for the artists work expand on the possibilities of an exhibition beyond a white box gallery space. The web element allows shows to range from installation views of painting and sculpture, to interactive and endlessly linking web shows, photography with a blog narrative, and even streaming music players. It's a concept seemly simple, but ahead of the curve as far as art galleries are concerned. It's one to watch for sure.
